TLR Team Improvement CPD (PDF)

Summaries of many team improvement theories and strategies currently being used in successful workplaces the world over. Collected from many sources, this resource brings together a large number of different ideas and opportunities for improving any TLR team, or just some catch up skimming on leadership and management ideas. There are over 35 slides in this shortened PDF version of the main PowerPoint from which you can choose the areas most relevant to your needs. These include: Effective leadership Building Relationships Team dynamics Problem solving Goal setting (Vision) Decision making and some example slides are included to show the style. I have used this (in conjunction with printed materials) to train teachers from a wide variety of subjects in different schools, tailoring the slides shown to the priorities of the group. More information can be given on any of the techniques by contacting me. Similarly, please tell me of any improvements you think should be made. Finally, don't forget, this is a shortened PDF version and so not editable. The PowerPoint version is also available on the TES at a slightly higher price.

A prompt sheet to help teachers new and old to think about how they deal with common classroom situations. A place to jot down proactive, reactive and next step thoughts for a variety of different potential issues. Probably most useful for teacher training and NQT years to evaluate current strategies and whether they work well. This is the editable Word version. There is also a PDF version available for a lower price.

Department Timetable planner

This spreadsheet is for any teacher that needs a department timetable. Colour coding, capacity and loading calculations, and lesson numbers are all tracked automatically. It counts lessons by set, year group and subjects within a department and has space for 15 members of staff. Instructions and an example are included. The other two files in the download are example images and can be deleted. It is easy to: 1) generate individual timetables for staff accounting for TLR, ppa, mentoring, NQT and other types of non-teaching lessons (see image) 2) adjust timetables mid-year as staffing changes 3) see any missed classes or double-staffed classes 4) adjust patterns through the use of colour. Hopefully very easy to use - I created it and have found it invaluable as a Head of Department. All suggestions for improvements are very welcome. I also have another version that tracks rooms and can add more staff spaces if requested.

A test summary page to guide students (and teachers) to understand the reasons behind the marks the students are getting, organise their next step intervention and to provide a teaching monitoring point. Parts are completed before and after each test. In addition, this sheet works well on A5 and can be stuck into books as a record while the test is stored elsewhere. This is the PDF version, which cannot be edited. An editable Word version is also available for a slightly higher price.

Science practical ordering and tracking through Excel. No online sign up, no writing your classes each week or printing them off, no more lost paper or crossing out, and no more practicals going out twice or not being collected. Just a simple, well-designed prep sheet for Science departments everywhere. Please see the images for more information and help notes are included in the file. This spreadsheet has a named tab for each member of staff where they enter their timetable and requests. This version caters for up to 12 staff, 5 working days and up to 6 periods per day - tell me if your needs are different. Once class names, rooms and sizes have been entered, the master can be kept safely and a copy made available for each week until the technician deadline. Features include: 1. Resource tracking: know whether a practical is being prepared or ready to go, preventing duplication. 2. Risk assessment: flag unusual practicals and confirm staff have risk assessed each one. 3. Weekly summaries: printable documents for technicians and HoDs. 4. At home access: make the spreadsheet available online. HoD overview of the week ahead. 5. Copy and paste this standard format to create a school practical bank. The aim is for ease of use with as few formulae and complexities as possible - it has worked in my schools so far! I hope it is useful for you and if it is please leave a positive review below to help others find it.
